Hi, we're Hamstock
A cozy little game with a big goal: helping people eat the food they buy.
Why Hamstock?
Most of us have been there: a forgotten bag of spinach at the back of the fridge, a second jar of mustard because we weren't sure we had one, yogurt that quietly went past its date. Around the world, households throw away more food than restaurants and shops combined. The UN's Food Waste Index Report 2024 puts it at about 79 kg per person every year.
Spreadsheets and inventory apps can help, but they feel like homework. We wanted something you'd actually want to open: a warm, playful game where keeping track of your food feels like looking after a tiny friend.
Why a hamster?
Hamsters are the world's best food stashers. They stuff their cheeks and carry snacks home to a secret pantry. In German there's even a verb for it: hamstern, "to hoard like a hamster".
Mochi is brilliant at stashing, but not so great at remembering what's in the stash. That's where you come in. Together you keep the den tidy, eat things before they go bad, and earn a few hats along the way.

How we make Hamstock
Cozy, not guilt
Mochi celebrates every rescued banana and never scolds you for a sad lettuce. Small wins add up.
Free where it matters
Everything that helps you waste less food is free. Paid extras are for fun looks and AI recipes.
Who makes Hamstock?
Hamstock is an independent app made by Uygar Acar, with a lot of help from Mochi (who mostly supervises snack quality).
