This Privacy Policy explains how Hamstock (“Hamstock”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses and shares personal information when you use the Hamstock mobile application (the “App”), the website at hamstock.app (the “Site”) and any related services (together, the “Services”).
By using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the Services.
Who we are

Information we collect
Information you provide to us
- Account information, such as your email address and account identifier when you create an account or sign in with a third-party sign-in provider.
- Profile information, such as your display name, avatar and profile preferences.
- Content you add to the Services, such as food items, quantities, dates, prices, shopping lists, custom items and the households you create or join.
- Communications, such as the content of messages you send to us and any information you include in support requests.
Information generated when you use the Services
- Activity information, such as check-ins, consumption records, progress, achievements, in-app currency balances, preferences and settings.
- Social information, such as your connections with other users, your interactions with them and the content you choose to share with them.
- Purchase information, such as records of in-app purchases and the status of your subscriptions. Payments are processed by the app store you purchase through; we do not receive your full payment card details.
Information collected automatically
- Device and technical information, such as device type, operating system and app version, language, time zone, IP address and diagnostic information.
- Usage information, such as the features you use and the dates and times you access the Services.
- Referral information, such as limited technical information collected when you open an invitation link, used to attribute the invitation.
Information from third parties
We may receive information from third parties you choose to connect with the Services, such as sign-in providers, and from app store providers about your purchases.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- provide, operate and maintain the Services, including creating and managing your account and keeping your information in sync across devices and household members;
- provide the features you request, including personalised suggestions and content;
- process transactions and manage subscriptions;
- communicate with you, including sending service notices, responding to requests and, where permitted, sending updates about the Services;
- understand how the Services are used, and maintain, improve and develop them;
- protect the security and integrity of the Services, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms and usage limits; and
- comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We may also create aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you, and use it for any lawful purpose.
Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process personal information on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract, where processing is necessary to provide the Services you have requested;
- Legitimate interests, such as securing, understanding and improving the Services, where those interests are not overridden by your rights;
- Consent, where we ask for it. You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal; and
- Legal obligation, where processing is necessary to comply with the law.
How we share information
We share personal information only as described in this Privacy Policy:
- With other users. Information you share with friends or household members is visible to them in accordance with the features you use and your settings.
- With service providers. We use vendors that process information on our behalf, such as providers of hosting, data storage, content generation, customer support and product information services. They may use personal information only to provide services to us.
- With platform providers. App store and sign-in providers receive information needed to process purchases and authenticate you, under their own privacy policies.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe it is required by law or legal process, or necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of Hamstock, our users or others.
- In a business transfer. Information may be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation or sale of all or part of our business.
- With your consent, or at your direction.
International transfers
We and our service providers may process personal information in countries other than the one in which you live, which may have different data protection laws. Where required, we put appropriate safeguards in place for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities.
Data retention
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, unless we need to keep certain information to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes or enforce our agreements. Content you shared with a household may remain available to its other members.
Your rights and choices
In the App. You can review and update your profile, control what you share with other users, turn optional features on or off, manage notifications in your device settings, and delete your account at any time in the App’s settings.
Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Residents of certain jurisdictions may also have additional rights under local law. To make a request, contact us at support@hamstock.app. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Complaints. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss and misuse. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Services are not directed to children under 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Third-party services
The Services may contain links to, or integrations with, third-party websites and services that we do not control. Their handling of your information is governed by their own privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where the changes are material, notify you through the Services or by other appropriate means.
